I spent Saturday at the Calgary Young Writer’s Conference, where thousands of kids who love to write descend on Crescent Heights High School for a wonderful day of workshops.
The school is packed, kids and parents and teachers and organizers and volunteers and writer-presenters squeezing past each other in crowded hallways, made worse by the labyrinthine design of the school. The only reason I didn’t walk every hallway twice is because I’d been there last year with a volunteer with a map who knew where she was going.
It was awesome – I love spending time with kids who are really interested in books and writing. They have so much energy, so many good ideas, so much love for a good story.
Now I need to get myself settled for a week of editing and renovations.
