Brewing Coffee

I borrowed a Cooks Illustrated magazine from my niece. I’m trying to follow their instructions for making the perfect cup of coffee, and failing.
I can cook. I can make coffee. I can follow recipes. But so far, I haven’t been able to remain mindful long enough to actually follow the recipe right through.
I’m sitting at the table, reading the newspaper, halfway through my cup of coffee, when I remember what I was supposed to have done.
Boil filtered water, and let it cool 10 seconds. Preheat the coffee pot with hot tap water. Put 2 tbsp medium ground coffee per 6 oz. of water in the pot, add boiled water, stir. Steep for 5 minutes.
It’s not that hard. It really isn’t.
